Tuesday Night Series
Begins on June 3 and ends on August 26, 2008- Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and closes at 6:20 p.m. Racing begins at 6:30 p.m. Registration through e-mail is available for CVA members; see below for details.
- Fees: Registration fee is $6.00 per night for CVA season pass holders, $11.00 per night for all others. Juniors are always $5.00. All riders are subject to a USOC track usage fee of $5.00 per night (in addition to the race registration fee). Riders may purchase a monthly or annual USOC track pass from the velodrome manager in lieu of the $5.00 nightly usage fee.
- License Requirements: Racers must hold a current USAC license or purchase a one-day at registration for $10.00 per night. Annual licenses will be sold at the velodrome.
- Categories: Riders may choose to race in the following categories: A Open, B Open, C Open, Juniors. Each category will have a short, middle and long distance race per evening, weather permitting. The scheduled events can be found on www.coloradousac.org/track web site.
- Prizes: There is no prize list on Tuesday nights and no season points awarded. Just come, race and have fun!
Thursday Night Series
Begins on May 29 and ends on August 28, 2008- Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and closes at 6:20 p.m. Racing begins at 6:30 p.m. Registration through e-mail is available for CVA members; see below for details.
- Fees: Registration fee is $12.00 per night for CVA season pass holder, $17.00 per night for all others. Juniors racing in any category are always $5.00. All riders are subject to a USOC track usage fee of $5.00 per night (in addition to the race registration fee). Riders may purchase a monthly or annual USOC track pass from the velodrome manager in lieu of the $5.00 nightly usage fee.
- License Requirements: Racers must hold a current USAC license or purchase a one-day at registration for $10.00 per night. Annual licenses will be sold at the velodrome.
- Categories: Riders may choose to race in the following categories: A Open, B Open, C Open, Women Open. Each category will have a short, middle and long distance race per evening, weather permitting. The scheduled events can be found on www.coloradousac.org/track.
- Prizes: There is a minimal nightly prize list for each category based on the number of riders who register in each category. CVA members racing in the A Category will earn points toward a Best All Around Rider prize list awarded at the end of the season. E-MAIL REGISTRATION FOR CVA MEMBERS ONLY: If you have a racing membership with the CVA (otherwise known as a Season Pass), have purchased a 6-pack (see Benefits of Membership section on the CVA web site), and have a monthly or season track pass, you no longer need to go through the nightly registration process! Up until 4:00 p.m. on race day, you may registration by e-mail to cvatrack@gmail.com. Just tell us your category and you'll be signed up! See the CVA web site for additional details.
Specific Race Formats and Rules
- Tuesday Night Races
- ABC Field Minimum Size
- Fields less than eight may be combined with another grade.

- Short Races
- Chariot Race
- One lap
- Standing start, with holders
- 1-mile Scratch
- Eighteen (18) or more riders requires qualifying: Two heats, top five in each heat advance to final.
- Keirin Format
- 4-laps total
- Men: Motor pulls off with 2 laps remaining.
- Women: Motor pulls off with 1.5 laps remaining.
- Sprint Format
- Less than Eighteen (18) riders:
- Qualifying: One three-lap scratch race.
- Major Final: 4-up, 2-lap sprint. 1st - 4th in qualifying.
- Minor Final: 4-up, 2-lap sprint. 5rd - 8th in qualifying.
- Eighteen (18) or more riders:
- Qualifying: Two three-lap scratch races.
- Major Final: 4-up, 2-lap sprint. 1st & 2nd from both heats.
- Minor Final: 4-up, 2-lap sprint. 3rd & 4th from both heats.
- Third Final: 4-up, 2-lap sprint. 5rd & 6th from both heats.
- Riders start from rail behind the rail at mid-track.
- Racing starts from the line on whistle.
- Less than Eighteen (18) riders:
- Chariot Race
- Middle Races
- 2-km Handicap
- Mini-Points Race
- Sprints every 4 laps.
- Miss & Out
- Last rider passing the line each lap is removed from field.
- Final 3 riders have 2-laps sprint for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd.
- Tempo
- Points awarded every lap: 2-1
- Final lap points awarded to top 4 riders: 5-3-2-1
- Long Races
- Madison
- Distance determined by officials.
- Sprints every 5-km. or 15 laps.
- Points Race
- Distance determined by officials.
- Sprints every 5 laps.
- Scratch Race
- Timed race of various fixed distances.
- Finish order on final lap determines places
